265 runners from 8 schools attended and it was good to welcome Macmillan Academy to their first event, and the first-timer year 10s from Hurworth Academy, sensibly running on the Yellow course.

This time the early part of the competition was not plagued by vandals but regrettably a planning error caused control number 240 on the Yellow course to be incorrectly placed, which inevitably impacted on the early runners on this course – apologies!  Vandals moved a couple of controls towards the end of the afternoon, but this did not have a significant effect on the competition.

Year 5 and 6 runners on the Yellow course were competing against year 10 novices, as mentioned earlier, but this did not impact on their inter-primary competition other than reducing their points scored.

Congratulations to the successful runners on the Orange and Light Green courses from Yarm School – these courses were tough and those completing in reasonable times did well.

Thanks again to your planner and kite planter, Phill Batts, and to the loyal team of CLOK helpers on the day – Joe Trigg and Maureen Webb on the start, Joan Selby and Barry Harrison patrolling, with Eileen Bedwell, Lorraine Porter and Peter Archer on the finish.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council were our hosts, and our thanks go to them – we look forward to seeing you next term at competition number five – Hardwick Park, Sedgefield on Wednesday, April 30th.
