invites you to a Summer Series evening event (Level D) in
Saltburn

This is the third event in a series of six.

Location:

Parking and Registration will be in the the public car park at the bottom of Saltburn Bank.  Parking charges apply between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. – £1 for 1 hour, £1.50 for 2 hours.  The grid reference of the entrance to the car park is NZ 668215 and the postcode is TS12 1NY.

Terrain:

The competition area is in three sections.  All courses visit the Valley Gardens, a beautifully restored Victorian park in a steep-sided valley with many paths and steps, ornamental gardens and buildings.  The Long course will also visit the seafront – with promenade, pier and attractions – and some varied urban areas – a complex network of alleys and more modern areas, gardens, small woodland areas and the railway station and retail area.

Important:  Full leg cover is mandatory on all courses.  No shorts!

Courses:
Long6 km with 150m climb
Medium     4 km with 110m climb
Short2 km with 60m climb

Important:  Competitors on the Long course must be over 16 years old on the day of the event.

You can run a second course for free!  If you'd like to do this, please turn up early for your first run so that you have time to complete your second run before the courses close.

The control descriptions will be printed on the maps, and separate loose copies will be available at Registration.

Punching system:

SPORTident electronic punching will be used.

SI-cards will be available for loan on the evening free of charge.  Please look after your borrowed SI card as there will be a £40 charge if you lose it.

Starts: 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.         Courses close at 7:45 p.m.
Fees:
Seniors on the Medium or Long course:     £4.00
Seniors on the Short course:£1.50
Juniors / Students (with ID):£1.50
Facilities:

First aid at Registration.  Please bring your own refreshments.

There are public toilets in the car park.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs are welcome at this event and can be taken out into the competition area.

Lone drivers: Please leave your labelled car keys at Registration as a safety check.

CLOK strongly recommends that you carry a whistle whilst participating in this (and every) orienteering event.

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk.  Orienteering is an adventure sport – your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility.

Insurance: Please note that if you have competed in three orienteering events registered with British Orienteering and you have not joined an orienteering club which is a member of British Orienteering then you are not covered by our public liability insurance.
