Day #1 – Saturday 13th October 2015 – Middle Distance Event on Fylingdales Moor
Location:

Fylingdales Moor is easily accessible from the B1416 south of Whitby.  Parking and assembly will be near New May Beck Farm at grid reference NZ 897028.  The event will be signed from the Red Gate corner on the Ruswarp to Scarborough road (B1416) at grid reference NZ 892047.  The nearest postcode is YO22 5JE.

Terrain: Very fast, well managed, open moorland with moderate contour detail and a few paths.
Courses:

White, Yellow, Orange, Light Green, Very Short Green, Short Green, Green, Blue, Brown and Black.

Please note that if you wish to be eligible for an October Odyssey prize you need to run an appropriate course.  Follow this link for further information and the allocation of classes to courses.

Punching system:

SPORTident electronic punching will be used.

SI-cards will be available for hire on the day at a cost of £1 each.  Please look after your hired SI-card, as there will be a £40 charge for any lost SI-card.

Entries:

Entry is via Fabian 4.

Pre-entries close at midnight on Wednesday 10th October 2018.

There will be entry on the day subject to map availability and a late entry surcharge.  (See below.)

Fees:

Pre-entries received by midnight on Sunday 30-Sep-2018 will be charged at the following rates:-

Seniors:  £11.00    There will be a £2.00 surcharge for any adult non-BOF-member.

Juniors / Students (with valid ID) / Benefits recipients:  £4.00

Families (2 adults and any number of their children):  £28.00

All entries after midnight on Sunday 30-Sep-2018 will be charged the Entry on the Day rate, as follows:-

Seniors:  £13.00    There will be a £2.00 surcharge for any adult non-BOF-member.

Juniors / Students (with valid ID) / Benefits recipients:  £5.00

Families (2 adults and any number of their children):  £33.50

Notes

To avoid any possible confusion, please note that all the above fees are per day.

CLOK members:  There is a 50% discount for helpers.  Please contact the Organiser before entering, as you will need the helpers' discount code for the Fabian 4 online entry system.

Registration: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Starts:

11 a.m. - 1 p.m.       Courses close at 3 p.m.

Facilities:

Toilets in the Assembly Area.

Please bring your own water for after your run, as no drinks will be provided.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs are welcome in the Assembly Area.  Please note that there will be sheep in the parking field and on the moor, so dogs must be kept under strict control.

Safety:

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk.  Orienteering is an adventure sport – your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility.

If you have a relevant medical condition, please complete the form at Registration and/or enter details on Fabian 4.

Lone drivers: Please leave labelled car keys at Registration.

CLOK strongly recommends that you carry a whistle whilst participating in this (and every) orienteering event.

Waterproof jackets may be made compulsory in the event of inclement weather.  If this happens, a notice will be posted in the Assembly Area.

Insurance: Please note that if you have competed in three orienteering events registered with British Orienteering and you have not joined an orienteering club which is a member of British Orienteering then you are not covered by our public liability insurance.

Day #2 – Sunday 14th October 2018 – Sneaton Forest
As well as being Day 2 of the October Odyssey, this event is the NE Orienteering Championships, a NE Orienteering League event and a Junior Interland selection event.  Please read the eligibility information before deciding which competition class to enter.
Location:

Terrain: Coniferous forest of mixed age and runnability, with a good ride and track network.
Courses:

White, Yellow, Orange, Light Green, Very Short Green, Short Green, Green, Blue, Brown and Black.

Please note that you need to run an appropriate course if you wish to (a) be eligible for an October Odyssey prize, (b) be competitive in the NE Orienteering Championships, (c) earn points in the NE Orienteering League and/or (d) be eligible for Junior Interland selection.  Follow this link for further details.
