Summer Series Evening Event at
Birk Brow, near Guisborough

This is the first of the six Summer Series events taking place between April and July 2019.
Location:

Parking and Registration will be in the car park at the top of Birk Brow hill, on the A171 three miles east of Guisborough, at grid reference NZ 657148.  The nearest postcode is TS12 3DF (but this is at Charltons at the bottom of Birk Brow hill).

Terrain:

The area has two distinct parts, separated by quiet road.  Low Moor is a sloping area of heather moorland with patches of gorse and a pocket of old quarry workings.  Skelton Warren is mixed woodland with scattered rock features on the steeper slopes to the north.  The whole area has a good path network.

Please note that full leg cover is required for this event.

Courses:
Long4.2 km with 180m climb
Medium     3.2 km with 130m climb
Short1.5 km with 35m climb

Note: The Short course is suitable for Juniors and beginners.

Punching system: This event will use SPORTident electronic punching.  If you have your own SI card then please bring it along to Registration.  SI cards will be available to borrow on the day at no charge.  Please look after yours, as there will be a £40 charge for any lost SI card.
Registration: 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Starts: 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.         Courses close at 7:45 p.m.
Fees:
Seniors on the Medium or Long course:     £4.00
Seniors on the Short course:£1.50
Juniors / Students (with ID):£1.50
Facilities:

First Aid at Registration.

Please note that there will be no toilets at this event.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs are welcome at this event, and can be taken out on to the courses.

CLOK strongly recommends that you carry a whistle whilst participating in this (and every) orienteering event.

Insurance: Please note that if you have competed in three orienteering events registered with British Orienteering and you have not joined an orienteering club which is a member of British Orienteering then you are not covered by our public liability insurance.
