Guisborough Forest & Walkway

This is the fourth of five Summer Series events taking place between April and July 2019.
Location:

Parking will be at the Guisborough Forest & Walkway Visitor Centre.  From the A171 just west of Guisborough, take the A173 towards Great Ayton.  Follow the A173 for 300 metres and look for the entrance to Guisborough Forest & Walkway Visitor Centre on the left side of the road.  The grid reference NZ 584153 and the postcode is TS14 8HD.

There is a £1 parking fee between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Terrain:

Established woodland, mainly on steep-sided slopes.  Path network.

Please note that full leg cover is mandatory.  (No shorts.)

Courses:
Long5.0 km with 130m climb     10 controls
Medium     3.1 km with 85m climb10 controls
Short1.7 km with 65m climb8 controls

You can run a second course for free!  If you'd like to do this, please turn up early for your first run so that you have time to complete your second run before the courses close.

Control descriptions will be printed on the map and available separately.

Punching system: This event will use SPORTident electronic punching.  If you have your own SI card then please bring it along to Registration.  SI cards will be available to borrow on the day at no charge.  Please look after yours, as there will be a £40 charge for any lost SI card.
Registration: 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Starts: 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.         Courses close at 7:45 p.m.
Fees:
Seniors on the Medium or Long course:     £4.00
Seniors on the Short course:£1.50
Juniors / Students (with ID):£1.50
Facilities:

First Aid at Registration.

Please note that there will be no toilets available at this event.

Please bring your own refreshments.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs are welcome at this event, and can be taken out into the competition area.

Safety:

Please make sure that you download even if you do not complete your course.

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk.  Orienteering is an adventure sport – your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility.

Lone drivers: Please leave your labelled car keys at Registration as a safety check.

If you have a relevant medical condition, please complete a form at Registration.

CLOK strongly recommends that you carry a whistle whilst participating in this (and every) orienteering event.

Insurance: Please note that if you have competed in three orienteering events registered with British Orienteering and you have not joined an orienteering club which is a member of British Orienteering then you are not covered by our public liability insurance.
