This is the fourth and final race of the Autumn Short Race Series held between October and December 2019.

Newcomers to orienteering:   Help and advice will be available at this event.  Just come along and ask!

Location:

The event will take place on the Teesside University campus in Middlesbrough.

There is ample free street parking in the area, for example on Victoria Road (TS1 3BQ) or Woodlands Road.

Registration is in the Olympia Building (Number 8 on this campus map), which is at the west end of Victoria Road.

Terrain: Urban area with complex buildings and street furniture.  There is one significant area of construction activity, which will be clearly marked on the map.
Courses:

There will be three courses available, with winning times of about 15 minutes:

Open:2.9 km
Youth / Vet (M/W18- and M/W55+):      2.0 km
Junior (M/W14-):1.0 km
Map:

Scale 1:3,000   A4 size.  Control descriptions will be printed on the map and available separately.

Please note that if there is an unexpectedly large entry you may be asked to recycle your map so that others can run.

Punching system:

This event will use SPORTident electronic punching.  The controls (but not the Start and Finish boxes) will be enabled for touch-free SIAC punching.

If you have your own SI-card then please bring it along to Registration.

SI-cards (non-SIAC) will be available to borrow on the day at no charge.  Please look after yours, as there will be a £20 charge for any lost SI-card.

Times: Registration: 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Starts: 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Courses close at 11:30 a.m.
Entries:

Seniors:  £4.00
Juniors / Students (with ID):  £1.50

You can run a second course for free, but if you intend to do this please try to start your first run early, and make sure you register again so we know who is still out.

There is no need to pre-enter for this event, but if you are bringing a group then please contact the Organiser in advance so that we can print enough maps.

Facilities: Toilets at Registration.  First Aid at Registration.
Dogs: Dogs are welcome at this event – and are allowed out on the courses – but must be kept on leads at all times.

Safety:

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk.  Orienteering is an adventure sport – your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility.

CLOK recommends that you carry a whistle whilst participating in this (and every) orienteering event.

Please make sure that you download even if you do not complete your course.

If you have a relevant medical condition please complete a form at Registration.

Lone drivers: Please leave your labelled car keys at Registration as a safety check.

Insurance: Please note that if you have competed in three orienteering events registered with British Orienteering and you have not joined an orienteering club which is a member of British Orienteering then you are not covered by our public liability insurance.
