invites you to a Middle Distance Regional Event on
Ayton Moor

Parking and registration will be at Gribdale Gate (grid reference NZ 592110.  The nearest postcode is TS9 6HN, but please note that you need to continue on past this small settlement and up on to the moor.  The event will be signed from the junction of High Street and Station Road in Great Ayton (at grid reference NZ 564105).

Parking will be at the roadside.  We will be sharing the limited parking space with members of the public, so please share transport wherever possible.

Registration will be adjacent to the parking area.


Runnable open moorland with plenty of paths, streams, contour and rock features.

Due to the possibility of bad weather at this time of the year it may be necessary for cagoules to be compulsory.  Please come prepared.

Courses: White, Yellow, Orange, Light Green, Short Green, Green, Blue and Brown

1:7,500 scale with 5m contours.   A4 size   The maps will be printed on waterproof paper.

The control descriptions will be printed on the maps, and separate loose copies will be available at Registration.

Punching system:

SPORTident electronic punching will be used.

The control boxes will be activated to enable SIAC cards to operate in touch-free mode ..... but please note that you will need to punch manually at the Start and Finish.

SI-cards will be available for hire on the day at a cost of £1 each.  Please look after your hired SI card as there will be a £20 charge if you lose it.


10 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Note: If you are bringing a group to this event then please contact the Organiser in advance – preferably by Wednesday 19-Feb-2020 – so that we can arrange to print enough maps.


10:15 a.m. - 12 noon

Due to the short days at this time of year and the exposed nature of the competition area, the courses will close at 2 p.m.  If you think that you may take a long time to complete your course, please start early.

The Start and Finish will be close to Registration / parking.

Seniors:£7.00   (£2 surcharge for non-members of British Orienteering)
Juniors / Students:    £2.00 

Adults on the White, Yellow and Orange courses will be charged the Junior rate of £2.

Please help us by bringing the correct change.


Toilet near Registration.  First aid at Registration.

Please bring your own drinks for after your run.

There are good cafes in Great Ayton.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the parking area, but are not allowed out into the competition area.
