CLOK logo
Location:

Parking will be in the Errington Woods public car park.

The entrance to the car park is at grid reference NZ 617201 and the What3words reference is ///diggers.lazy.irritate.  The nearest postcode is TS11 8EE.

Click on the link to see a map.  You can zoom in (and, optionally, switch to Satellite mode) to see the details of the final approach to the event.  You can also get directions if you specify your starting location.

If coming from the west, go past the Wilton chemical works and continue on the A174 towards Saltburn.  The event will be signed from the roundabout at grid reference NZ 609223.  Turn right (i.e. south) and go up the hill and across a crossroads.  The entrance to the car park is on the left, just before the road takes a sharp right at the top of the hill.

Terrain:

Errington Woods is a well established wood with a substantial path / track network, steep-sided slopes and many varied features.

There are many mountain bike tracks throughout the woods and new ones can appear at short notice, so some may not be mapped.

Benches, carved sculptures and mountain bike jumps are not mapped.

Full leg cover is required.  Apart from anything else, there are many areas of brambles!

This wood is used by many local people from the Marske area, and runners should take this into consideration whilst taking part in the event.  Please be particularly aware of horse riders (some of whom may be children) and mountain bikers.

In the event of inclement weather waterproofs may be made compulsory.  Please come prepared.

Map:

Scale 1:7,500   Size A4  Redrawn by Paul Taylor in 2018.  The courses will be overprinted on the maps, which will be printed on waterproof paper.

The control descriptions will be printed on the maps, and separate loose copies will be available.  The control descriptions for the White to Orange courses will be text.  The control descriptions for the Light Green to Brown courses will be pictorial.

Punching system:

SPORTident electronic punching will be used.

The control boxes will be activated to enable SIAC cards to operate in touch-free mode ..... but please note that you will need to punch the old-fashioned way at the Start and Finish.

As part of the arrangements to prevent the spread of coronavirus, SI-cards will not be available for hire on the day.  However, SI-card hire can be prearranged.  To reserve a hired SI-card, please contact Marion Archer.  The £1.00 charge will be added to your account in the CLOK online entry system.  You can collect your hired SI-card – which will be in an envelope labelled with your name – from the Download car before your run.  Please remember to return it as you download.
