Cleveland Orienteering Klub Weekly MapRun Challenge |
Mary: Your email mentioned "TDF League". What does TDF stand for, and how will the league work?
Each week, CLOK's Club Development Officer will highlight a virtual (MapRun) challenge. The idea is to give us all some extra motivation to get out orienteering even when there may not be an event on.
Once you've completed 25 of these virtual challenges you'll receive a free entry to a CLOK local event. For your challenge to be counted you must complete it and upload your result to MapRun within the time limit. Mary: What's the time limit?
Follow this link for more information about virtual orienteering courses and advice on how to use the MapRunF app.
If you have any questions about this, please contact the Club Development Officer, Mary Flemming.
Week #1 13th - 19th September 2021
This week's MapRun challenge is Catterick Garrison NW1 Medium Maprun
Please note that this course has a different name in the MapRun app. See below.
In MapRunF search for: Event list > UK> Other > AOA> Catterick > BAOC 23 Sep 20 Med or BAOC 23 sep 20 Short
Important: For your run to count towards your free entry to a CLOK local event you must make your result public by either auto-uploading it from your MapRun app or uploading a GPX route (e.g. from a GPS watch) to the FNE MapRun Console.
There will be four awards for this challenge:-
Mary: Does "this challenge" mean the Week #1 challenge,
or are the awards going to be cumulative? It would be quite nice
to make them cumulative, but it would cause some complications.
For the polka dot and green awards you could have a points system;
e.g. 3 points for first, 2 points for second and 1 point for third.
However, the pink and yellow awards would presumably need to be
based on cumulative time, and that would cause a problem if someone
missed a challenge.
Polka dot | King of the hills | Leg 7-8 |
Green | Sprint specialist | Leg 5-6 |
Pink | Fastest junior | Fastest total time for M/W20- Mary: Is this the right definition of "junior"? |
Yellow | Course leader | Fastest total time |
Important: Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult on this course.
