Covid-19: |
Although most of the Covid-19 restrictions have been relaxed, the pandemic is not yet over, and the wave of Omicron infections is a significant concern. Orienteering is an outdoor, naturally socially-distanced sport. However, although you should be relatively safe when you are out on your run, there is a risk of Covid-19 transmission during the pre- and post-run activities. Given that:-

45 minute score. Visit as many as controls as you can within the 45-minute time limit. Each control is worth 10 points. If you exceed the time limit you will lose 5 points for each minute or part minute that you are late getting to the Finish. Score events involve the extra challenges of (a) deciding the best sequence of controls to visit and (b) judging whether you have time to visit that one last control and still get back to the Finish in time to avoid losing points due to lateness. Each control is at a lamp post. Each lamp post is identified by three letters and a number (1 or 2 digits). The control card gives the letters for each control. You need to write the number in the relevant box on the control card. For example, if the lamp post number at control #4 is ABC2 then box 4 on the control card will be labelled ABC and you need to write down 2 in that box. Please note that there may be multiple lamp posts close to the control. The dot in the centre of the control circle on the map marks the exact location of the lamp post. This should, for example, let you see which side of the road the lamp post is on.

The map will be a Street-O map from the Open Orienteering web site. The map shows roads, footpaths and open areas (both rough and grass), but it is not a standard urban orienteering map. You can use this link to view a blank map.
