What a fantastic new area for a Saturday morning run / jog / walk with a bit of navigation (!) ......... and we were so lucky with the weather as well.  Thank goodness the Blackwell Urban Parkland was saved from development!
Many thanks to Mary for her loopy courses. Only one person on the Open course forgot to turn their map over oops! and the kids particularly enjoyed being able to run unaccompanied in such lovely safe parkland.
A huge thank you to everyone who pitched in and helped us on the day when Mary was unable to come to the event after testing positive for Covid-19. We wish her a speedy recovery. She was really disappointed not to be able to see how you all got on with tackling her courses.
Special mentions to Malcolm, Roy, Peter, Marion, Rebecca, Jules, David and Alastair. And thanks to Alice for getting the SI equipment back up to our region (just) in time for the event.
A big thank you to Blackwell Grange Hotel for allowing us to use their facilities ....... and a big apology for our oversight in locating controls in the area used by their service vans. We'll make sure that we'll keep competitors away from the hotel's service areas on future visits to the Blackwell Urban Parkland.
Also, thanks to Duncan for his work behind the scenes to get Racesignup set up to take the entries. This was our first use of Racesignup, and it provided a good opportunity to check out its features and learn how we can use it effectively for our future orienteering events.
We were very pleased to welcome the Darlington Mayor, Cyndi Hughes, who was really happy to meet us all.
David took some superb pictures of the action. You can see them on our Facebook page.
I hope to see lots of you at CLOK's annual Acorn National Event at Boltby on Sunday 20th March.
