CompassSport Cup Heat at
Windy Pits & Duncombe Park

Sunday 13-Mar-2022

CLOK will be competing in the CompassSport Trophy Heat at Windy Pits & Duncombe Park, Helmsley, on Sunday 13‑Mar‑2022.

Thanks to everyone who's running for the club in the 2022 CompassSport Trophy Heat.  We have 50 runners in the competition, with only one class (Junior Women) with no entries.

Follow these links for the:-

HALO is a very small club and is organising the event a fair distance from home.  They're still looking for helpers, and it would be good if we could provide a few.  It will probably be jobs like car parking, start and finish.  If you can offer to help, even for a short time, this would be well received by HALO.

The CompassSport Cup (and Trophy)

The CompassSport Cup (CSC) is an interclub competition with regional heats and a final, which this year is in central Scotland.  The competition is split into the Cup (clubs with over 125 members) and the Trophy (clubs with 125 or fewer members).

This year CLOK is in the Trophy competition and we will be competing against NATO, NN, CLARO, HALO, EPOC, EBOR and SELOC in our regional heat.

The top two teams go to the final, and if EPOC are in one of the first two positions then the third team will also qualify (because EPOC were in the top 3 positions in last year's final).  We need to get as many runners to this race as possible, in order to give us the best chance of (a) getting high scorers and (b) pushing other clubs' runners down the results.

Courses

Each age group is allocated to a colour-coded course from Orange to Brown, as shown in this table.

CourseAge classes
BrownMen Open
Short Brown  M20- and M40+
BlueM50+ and Women Open
GreenM18-, M60+, W20- and W45+
Short GreenM70+, W18- and W60+
OrangeM14- and W14-

Some of the courses are divided into separate classes.  For example, there are separate Blue Men and Blue Women classes.

In each class, the winner gets 100 points, and the score for lower places drops by 1 or 2 points per place depending on whether the class is categorised as "large" or "small". them.

We may need some people 'run up' to balance our team and give us the best chance of progressing.  I'll always consult / persuade a competitor before before entering them in a course other than their allocated one.

Please note that juniors cannot be shadowed if they're competing in the CSC competition.

There will also be White, Yellow and Light Green courses available at the event for runners who are not taking part in the main event.

The club will pay all entry fees for the CompassSport Trophy runners.

Entries

Entries for the CompassSport Cup Trophy courses are now closed.

There will be entry on the day for the White, Yellow and Light Green courses, but it is recommended that you reserve your map(s) by emailing the event Organiser before midnight on 6th March 2022, giving the following information for each competitor:  Name, Club, Course, Age class, BO number and SI card number (or 'Hire').

Final words

Please put this in your calendar and try to attend, as we do have a fighting chance of getting to the final if we have a good turnout at the heat.  We only need to travel to Helmsley, so I'm hoping for a huge entry turning up in our very smart club jackets!

If you need any additional information – particularly for our new members – please contact me.
