Registration / Download will be behind the Preston Park cafe, which is NE of the overflow car park.

The competition area includes Preston Park and the newly-mapped Tees Wildlife Area.  Follow this link to see the map.

Preston Park is suburban parkland adjoining the River Tees.  It includes open grassed areas and paths, water features, small wooded areas and several buildings.

The Tees Wildlife Area generally consists of immature woodland of varying runnability, with scattered trees, thickets and small sections of runnable wood.  It will provide a good contrast with the faster running in Preston Park.  In order to avoid disturbing a sensitive wildlife area, please keep out of the bullrushes around the central pond and marsh.

The River Tees runs through the mapped area and a busy dual carriageway is on the eastern edge of the area.  These are both strictly out of bounds.

Although the Covid-19 restrictions have been relaxed and the Omicron wave has now subsided, the pandemic is not yet over.  Please continue to take precautions to protect yourself and other people ..... including the volunteers who make orienteering events possible.

Orienteering is an outdoor, naturally socially-distanced sport.  However, although you should be relatively safe when you are out on your run, there is a risk of Covid-19 transmission during the pre- and post-run activities.

Given that:-

Please do not attend this event if:

  • you have tested positive for Covid-19 within the five days leading up to the event, or
  • you have symptoms of a respiratory infection and you have a high temperature or feel unwell.

In accordance with Government guidance, you should stay at home and avoid contact with other people.

>> Please maintain effective social distancing, including from the volunteers on the organising team; e.g. at Download.
>> Before and after your run, avoid unnecessary close contact with people outside your household.
>> Maintain good hand hygiene.

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk.  Orienteering is an adventure sport – your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility.

Please make sure that you download even if you do not complete your course.

Lone drivers: Please leave your labelled car keys at Download as a safety check.

CLOK strongly recommends that you carry a whistle whilst participating in this (and every) orienteering event.

If you have a relevant medical condition please inform the Organiser before the event or at Registration.
