This event is part of the North Yorkshire Urban Weekend.  The other event is on Sunday 11‑Sep‑2022 in Ripon.
Location:

Parking will be in the Richmond School car parks.  Richmond School is in the north-east part of Richmond, on the south side of the A6108.  If you are coming from Scotch Corner, the school is on the left about 500m after you enter the 30mph limit.  The grid reference is NZ 180014, the postcode is DL10 7BQ and the What3words reference is ///thanks.feasting.softest.

Terrain:

Richmond Town offers an amazing variety of age of architecture, including the medieval castle, a cobbled market place with its narrow passageways, and housing estates ranging from Georgian to modern.  The whole town is on the northern slope of the Swale Valley and there is a climb of 130m from the river to the top of the map.

The courses for the under-16s will be in the grounds of Richmond School and the adjacent parkland.

Please note that the course lengths are provisional and have been measured along straight lines between the controls.  The Shortest distances are the approximate minimum distances that competitors will run.

Anyone under the age of 16 on the day of the event who wishes to run courses 1 - 5 must be accompanied by an adult.

Punching system:

SPORTident electronic punching will be used.

The control boxes will be activated to enable SIAC cards to operate in touch-free mode ..... but please note that you will need to punch the old-fashioned way at the Start and Finish.

SI-cards will not be available for hire on the day.  However, SI-card hire can be prearranged.  You can reserve a hired SI-card via Racesignup when you put in your entries.  There will be a £1.00 hire charge for Seniors, 50p hire charge for Juniors.  Please collect your hired SI-card from Download before your run and return it as you download after your run.  Take care of your hired SI-card, as there will be a £30 charge if you lose it.

Registration: There will be no Registration at the event.  If you wish to participate in this event you must pre-enter via the Racesignup online entry system.
Entries:

There will be no entry on the day.  You must pre-enter via the Racesignup online entry system.

The entry fees are:
Senior:£9.00     £2.00 surcharge for non-members of British Orienteering
Senior novice:   £3.00 
Junior:   £2.50 

Family fee   Maximum entry fee £21.  Use the discount code family-junior for your second and subsequent junior entries to qualify.

Students aged 21 or over entering before midnight on Friday 9‑Sep‑2022 will pay the Junior entry fee.  Contact the Organiser for the discount code.

CLOK members:  If you are available to help, contact entries@claro-orienteering.org.uk for the discount code for the relevant day(s) and please tick the helper box on the entry form when you enter.

The entry deadline is midnight on Sunday 4‑Sep‑2022.

After that, you will still be able to enter until midnight on Thursday 8‑Sep‑2022, but there will be a late entry surcharge of £1 and your choice of course may be limited by map availability.

Starts:

11 a.m. - 2 p.m.       Courses close at 3 p.m.

There will be two Starts.

The Near Start, which is used by courses 6 and 7, is adjacent to Assembly.  Follow this link to see a map.

The Far Start, which is used by courses 1 – 5, is about 500 metres from the school, passing through quiet estate roads.  Follow this link to see a map of the route.  There is 30m climb.  The route will be marked by the tape streamers.

Please note that there is a section of very narrow footpath on the way to the Start, and you may need to step into the road to get past people coming the other way.  Please take care if and when doing so.

Results:

There will be no results displayed at the event.

Full results, split times, Splitsbrowser progressograms and RouteGadget will be available at www.clok.org.uk as soon as possible after the event.

Facilities:

The Assembly Area is on the south side of the school, on the patio outside the Dining Hall.  There are lots of benches and tables.

Please note that club tents must not be erected.  This is a condition of our licence to occupy the site.

Toilets will be available in the Richmond School gym.

No drinks will be provided.  Please bring your own refreshments.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs are welcome at this event and can be taken out into the competition area.

Safety:

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk.  Orienteering is an adventure sport – your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility.

Please make sure that you download even if you do not complete your course.

CLOK recommends that you carry a whistle whilst participating in this (and every) orienteering event.
