What an excellent treat of fun and challenging orienteering we enjoyed over the weekend.

I'm well and truly tired out after two excellent orienteering events on Dale Town Moor.  And I really appreciated being able to retreat to the High Paradise Tearoom for some of their lovely food after my runs.  Very many thanks to them for opening up especially for us on Saturday night and for allowing us to park in their 'event car park' and use their facilities.

For once the weather was very kind to us, with a still, clear night on Saturday (although, yes, it was a bit frosty as well).  As we raced – or stumbled   across the moor with just our head torches for illumination we could enjoy a clear view of the distant lights on the Bilsdale transmitter.

This event, by the way, was our first contribution to the YHOA Night League.

Thanks to:

• Paul Taylor for taking on the planning when the original Planner had to go and deal with a family emergency.
• Paul & Wendy Taylor for putting out the controls.
• Mark Davis and Charles Mayes for setting us off at the Start.
• SI Manager Carolyn Rigby, who also ran the safety check to make sure that we didn't leave anybody out on the moor at the end of the event.

Then on to the initially foggy but later sunny Sunday event, using the same controls but in a different order.
