Organiser's comments

What a really lovely golf course for the final event in our winter series of dusk / night events on golf courses.  Early starters had the benefit of the last of the daylight, and some of us even enjoyed a little sunshine when we started (walking around in my case)!

Thanks to Bedale Golf Club for hosting us in such a family-friendly, sociable, inclusive venue.  These golf clubs really do provide civilised hospitality.

Our winter series started last October with our AGM event on Wilton Golf Course, after which we had a rather chilly – but beautifully starry – regional night event on Dale Town Moor (part of the North Yorkshire night series).  Then it was back down to the Cleveland Links golf course on the coast near Redcar, west to Romanby Golf Course near Northallerton and further south-west to our series finale here at Bedale.

Many thanks to:-

• Mike Edwards for arranging access to his golf club and helping with all the local arrangements – including the food!
• Rob Bailey for doing the "on the ground" map survey and (yet again) planning interesting courses on Paul Taylor's brand new map (for which he did his surveys from space).
• Peter Archer for patiently manned the Start for us (again, for the fourth time in this dusk / night series!).
• Marion Archer for running the SI system.
• Isla Mathieson , David & Viv Murphy, Trevor Peacock and Chris Poole for helping Rob to collect in the controls after the event.

We had a great sociable time in the Golf Club bar after our runs – mixing in some useful work on Club business in the form of discussions about the organisation of this year's British Orienteering Championships at Mulgrave & Skelder, the September 2025 CompassSport Cup final at South Gare and the 2025 Northern Night Championships.
