Planner's comments

A good event, helped greatly by the very pleasant weather.  Not only on the day, but on all my visits, it didn't rain once.  The map was excellent, and this made planning and tagging very easy.

Thanks to everyone who helped.

• Dave Horn (Controller), who kept me in line with BOF regulations and helped to get the course distances correct.  The winning times were roughly what I expected.
• Richard Rigby who helped greatly with the tagging of control sites as well as putting out and collecting in controls.
• Charles and Becca Mayes and Martin Dean, who stayed to collect controls.

There were two issues raised about the courses.  The first was the problem of not making it obvious that the path across the out-of-bounds marsh was okay to use.  I should have added a crossing point symbol here.  My apologies to those affected.  The second issue was involved controls 226 and 229.  Some competitors punched the wrong control initially.  However, I have to disagree that the numbers should have been different.  The controls were 100m apart and one was clearly in a small deep re-entrant while the other was on a path.

The terrain was very tough but it was pleasing to hear comments at the Finish that the courses had tested competitors' navigational skills as well as their physical fitness.
