CLOK invites you to a dusk event with a difference – a Halloween spooktacular at Kiplin Hall, where their chilling Crowe's Wood Halloween Trail will be on display in the grounds ready to spook you out!  Where your course crosses the Halloween trail, you may encounter the odd ghost or skeleton.  Don't fall in the Monster Mash, and watch out for the wrecking ball.  So, do you dare?
Location:

Kiplin Hall is on the south side of the B6271 about half-way between Northallerton and Richmond.  The postcode is DL10 6AT.  The grid reference of the entrance is SE 273977 and the What3words reference is ///dozed.crackled.remain.

The only O-sign will be on the B6271 a the Kipliin Hall maiin entrance.  From there, follow permanent signs to the main visitors' car park.  Please park neatly to maximise the use of the available space.

Terrain:

Extensive parkland with some wooded areas, the Hall's buildings and gardens and a complex orchard area.

BRING A GOOD TORCH.  The Kiplin Hall grounds are not lit!

Note: The Hall grounds are not open to the general public on Thursdays, but there may be some staff working.

Punching system:

SPORTident electronic punching will be used.

The control boxes will be activated to enable SIAC cards to operate in touch-free mode ..... but please note that you will need to punch the conventional way at the Start and Finish.

If you need to hire an SI-card, please order it via the online entry system – there is a £1 hire charge – and collect it from Download before your run.  Remember to return it as you download, and take care of it, as there will be a £20 charge if you lose it.  A limited number of SI-cards will be available for hire on the day, but please pre-order via the online entry system if possible.

The entry fees are:
Seniors:£5.00
Seniors on the Beginners course:   £2.00
Juniors:£2.00

The entry deadline is midnight on Wednesday 16‑Oct‑2024.  After that, you will still be able to enter until midnight on Tuesday 22‑Oct‑2024, but your choice of course may be limited by map availability.

Starts:

5:50 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.         Courses close at 7:30 p.m.

The Start and Finish are both within 100m of the car park.

Second run: There should be an opportunity to run a second course if you start your first / main course early enough.  This will, however, depend on the availability of maps.  There will be no charge for your second run.  Register when you download after your first run.
Facilities:

No drinks will be provided.  Please bring your own refreshments.

Toilets will be available.  Follow the "toilets" signs towards the main Hall building.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs are welcome in the Hall grounds but must not be taken out on the courses.

Safety:

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk.  Orienteering is an adventure sport – your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility.

Please make sure that you download even if you do not complete your course.

CLOK strongly recommends that you carry a whistle while participating in this (and every) orienteering event.
