Location:

Parking will be in Yarm School.  The entrance to the school is at grid reference NZ 419125 on the A67 just south of the centre of Yarm.  The postcode is TS15 9EJ and the What3words reference is ///cabinet.employ.televise.

Terrain:

All the courses use the school grounds, running on paths and areas of grass.  The Medium and Long courses also venture out into an urban area in central Yarm.  The Medium course only crosses minor access roads.  The Long course crosses the main road through Yarm at a pedestrian crossing.  This road crossing will be timed out up to a maximum of 2 minutes.

Anyone under the age of 16 on the day of the event must be accompanied by an adult if they are running the Long course.

The control descriptions will be printed on the maps, and loose copies will be available at the Start.

Punching system:

SPORTident electronic punching will be used.

The control boxes will be activated to enable SIAC cards to operate in touch-free mode ..... but please note that you will need to punch the conventional way at the Start and Finish.

If you need to hire an SI-card, please order it via the Racesignup online entry system and collect it from Download before your run.  There will be a £1 hire charge.  Remember to return your hired SI-card as you download after your run, and take care of it, as there will be a £20 charge if you lose it.

A limited number of SI-cards will be available for hire on the day, but please pre-order via the online entry system if at all possible.

The entry fees are:
Seniors on the Long or Medium course:   £5
Juniors / students:£2
Seniors on the Short course£2

The entry deadline is midnight on Friday 16‑May‑2025.

There will be very limited entry on the day subject to the availability of maps ..... but please make every effort to pre-enter if you can.

Starts:

11 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.         Courses close at 1 p.m.

The Start and Finish will be close to the car park.

Facilities:

Competitors will have access to toilets in one of the school buildings.

First aid at Download.

No drinks will be provided.  Please bring your own or visit one of the many establishments along Yarm High Street.

Dogs: Well behaved dogs are welcome at this event, and you can take your dog out on your course provided that you keep it on a short lead and take great care not to cause a hazard to members of the public or other competitors.  (You'll also need to pick up after your dog, of course.)

Safety:

Please make sure that you download even if you do not complete your course.

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the organising team, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk.  Orienteering is an adventure sport – your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility.

CLOK recommends that you carry a whistle at this (and every) orienteering event.

If you have a relevant medical condition, please add this to your competitor details in Racesignup.  Any information provided will be treated in strict confidence and will only be used if you need medical treatment and are unable to communicate at the time.
