CLOK would not be able to operate – or to organise orienteering events – without the support given by willing volunteers.

Without in any way wishing to imply that the volunteers are making their contributions in the expectation of some sort of reward – other than our thanks, of course – the Committee has decided that it would be appropriate to give volunteers a token of the club's appreciation for their efforts.

Volunteer Recognition Policy

Following each event, the Organiser, Planner, Controller and SI Manager will each receive a credit in Racesignup equivalent to the full entry fee for that level of the event.  For Seniors, this is currently £8.50 for Regional events and £5 for local events.  For Juniors, this is currently either £2.50 for Regional events and £2 for local events.

Other volunteers (e.g. parking, start, finish, kite hanging, control collecting, etc.) can use the 50% discount code when entering.  If they don't use the discount code (e.g. because they aren't running in the event or they didn't have the code when they put in their entry) then they will receive a credit in Racesignup equivalent to half of the entry fee for that level of event.  For Seniors, this is currently £4.25 for Regional event and £2.50 for local events.

The credits are applied automatically in Racesignup after each event.  There is no need for volunteers to claim them.

Anyone volunteering to help at an event and not competing in that event can also claim expenses for travel to/from the event.  See the Expenses Policy for more information.

The Officials Finder will advertise this policy when seeking the main officials for each event.

The Organiser of each event will:-

• advertise this volunteer policy when seeking helpers
• after the event, thank all volunteers via email
• after the event, encourage non-competing volunteers to claim mileage, with reference to this policy
• after the event, let the Racesignup administrator know who volunteered, so the administrator can apply credits for anyone who didn't use the discount code when entering
• after the event, let the Tchimes editor know who volunteered, so they can be thanked in Tchimes.

Volunteering for Couch 2 Green (C2G)

Volunteer session leaders get a £5 credit in Racesignup for each training session they lead, up to a maximum of £20 credit for a C2G series.

Volunteer helpers get a £2.50 credit in Racesignup for each training session they help at, up to a maximum of £10 credit for a C2G series.

Racesignup credits are applied automatically and promptly after the C2G series has finished.

The Club Development Officer will:

• advertise this volunteer policy when seeking helpers / leaders
• after the series, thank all volunteers via email
• after the series, let the Racesignup administrator know who volunteered, so the administrator can apply credits
• after the series, write a report for Tchimes, including thanking all those who volunteered

For the avoidance of doubt ......

Credits can only be used for entry to CLOK events via Racesignup.  No cash alternatives are offered.

Juniors get credits relative to the Junior entry fees (so less than Seniors).
