This event is being run in accordance with the British Orienteering guidance for resumption of orienteering in England. In order to participate in this event you must agree to comply with the Participant Code of Conduct. Key points in the Code of Conduct are:-

Location: |
Kiplin Hall is on the south side of the B6271 about half-way between Northallerton and Richmond. The postcode is DL10 6AT. The grid reference of the entrance is SE 273977 and the What3words reference is ///dozed.crackled.remain. Click on the link to see a map. You can zoom in (and, optionally, switch to Satellite mode) to see the details of the final approach to the event. You can also get directions if you specify your starting location. From the entrance, follow signs to "Car Park". Parking will be on hard standing. The only orienteering event signage will be at the Kiplin Hall entrance. Please do not arrive at Kiplin Hall before 2 p.m. and please make sure that your car is out of the car park by 6 p.m. | ||||||||||||||||||||

Extensive parkland with some wooded areas, the Hall's buildings and gardens and a complex orchard area. Shorts may be worn. Note: The Hall grounds are not open to the general public on Thursdays, but there may be some staff working. | ||||||||||||||||||||

Paper maps will be available at the event. 1:4,000 scale
A4 size. The maps will be printed on waterproof paper. Control descriptions will be will be available at the Start. Please use the provided hand sanitiser before taking your map in order to avoid any risk of contaminating other people's maps. | ||||||||||||||||||||
Punching system: | This is a Virtual Orienteering Event. There will be kites marking the positions of the Start and the Finish, but apart from that there will be no kites, SI boxes or pin-punches (remember those?) in the terrain. Instead, you can either (a) use the MapRun6 app on your smartphone or the MapRunG app on your Garmin smartwatch to record your progress around your course or (b) use your GPS watch to create a track of your route and, after the event, upload the track to the MapRun web site for checking. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no Registration at the event. If you wish to participate in this event you must pre-enter via the CLOK online entry system. There will be no "key drop" facility at this event. Please make your own arrangements. | ||||||||||||||||||||
Entries: |
There will be no entry on the day. You must pre-enter via the CLOK online entry system.
If you are a non-junior student (i.e. W/M 21 or over) the online entry system will charge you the senior entry fee. Please email the Organiser to request the discount for the junior fee. Entries for this event will close at midnight on Tuesday 6th April 2021. | ||||||||||||||||||||
Second run: |
You are welcome to do a second run at this event, but you must pre-enter for both runs via the CLOK Entry System. The second run entries are listed in the CLOK Entry System as a separate event Kiplin Hall second runs. As usual, you need to reserve a start slot first and then go back in and put in your actual entry. Try to arrange things so that you arrive at the Start at the right time for your second run, but don't worry if you're late. We've got some flexibility to fit people in. The entry fee for a second run is £1.00 ...... and, no, you can't do a second run without doing a first run! | ||||||||||||||||||||

Please see the Covid-19 section at the top of this flyer. A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk. Orienteering is an adventure sport your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility. CLOK strongly recommends that you carry a whistle at this (and every) orienteering event. If you have a relevant medical condition, please inform the Organiser before the event. |
