Location:

Parking will be at the Outwood Academy, Acklam.  The school has several car parks.  When entering the school please keep right.  We will be using the car park at grid reference NZ 489167.  The postcode is TS5 7JY and the What3words reference for the entrance to the car park is ///supply.gates.gender.

Click on the link to see a map.  You can zoom in (and, optionally, switch to Satellite mode) to see the details of the final approach to the event.

Please note that a junior football club uses the school car parks, so the car park may be busy.  Please be considerate towards other users.

Acklam Hall:

The competition area includes the grounds of Acklam Hall, which dates back to 1637 and is the only Grade 1 listed building in Middlesbrough.

Besides being a home for the local landowners, it has also been a school and a college and it is currently a wedding/events centre with a restaurant.  The original entrance to the estate still exits.  It is a narrow strip of mature woodland known locally as the 'Avenue of Trees'.

Terrain:

There is a great mixture of terrain, including school grounds, open parkland, lovely runnable woodland and some rough open land.

Some of Acklam Hall boundaries are marked by a black metal fence of the type shown in the photo to the right.  The estate have asked us not to climb this fence, even though it could easily be done.  So please use one of the crossing points marked on the map, which take you through gaps or unlocked gates.
