Cleveland Orienteering Klub invites you to an Autumn Short Race Series event in Wynyard Woodland Park on Saturday 7th December 2024 |
This is the fourth and final race of the Autumn Short Race Series being held during November and December 2024.

Location: |
Parking will be at the Wynyard Woodland Park car park at grid reference NZ 403243. The postcode is TS21 3JG and the What3words reference for the entrance to the car park is ///builds.price.newest. Click on the link to see a map. You can zoom in (and, optionally, switch to Satellite mode) to see the details of the final approach to the event. From the A177 Durham road take the turning into Wynyard Road signposted Wynyard Woodland Park and then turn left up the track to the car park. Enquiries / Download will be close to the car park. | ||||||
Terrain: | Urban parkland with wooded areas and some water features based around a disused railway line and station. There are no public roads within the park. | ||||||

Punching system: |
This event will use SPORTident electronic punching. The control boxes will be activated to enable SIAC cards to operate in touch-free mode ..... but please note that you will need to punch the conventional way at the Start and Finish. If you need to hire an SI-card, please order it via the online entry system there is a £1 hire charge and collect it from Download before your run. Remember to return it as you download, and take care of it, as there will be a £20 charge if you lose it. A limited number of SI-cards will be available for hire on the day, but please pre-order via the online entry system if possible. | ||||||

The online entry deadline is midnight on Thursday 5‑Dec‑2024. There will be very limited entry on the day subject to the availability of maps ..... but please make every effort to pre-enter if you possibly can. | ||||||
Times: |
Starts: 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Courses close at 12:30 p.m. The Start is about 5 minutes' walk from the car park. | ||||||
Second run: | You can run a second course for free, subject to map availability. Register when you download after your first run. If you intend to do a second run, please start your first run early enough to enable you to finish your second run before the courses close at 12 noon. | ||||||
Facilities: |
There are public toilets between the car park and the Visitors Centre. First aid at Download. The cafe in the Visitors Centre serves hot and cold food and drinks. | ||||||
Dogs: | Well-behaved dogs are welcome at this event and can be taken out on the courses but must be kept under control at all times. If you decide to take your dog out on your course, please be very careful not to cause a hazard to members of the public or other competitors. (You'll also need to pick up after your dog, of course.) | ||||||

A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk. Orienteering is an adventure sport your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility. Please make sure that you download even if you do not complete your course. CLOK recommends that you carry a whistle while participating in this (and every) orienteering event. If you have a relevant medical condition, please add this to your competitor details in Racesignup. Any information provided will be treated in strict confidence and will only be used if you need medical treatment and are unable to communicate at the time. |
